Tutor Bios



Dhatri holds a Master’s of Science in Elementary and Special Education, a Bachelor Degree in Science of Instruction in Elementary Education, and also an Ontario Teaching Certificate for Primary and Junior Grades and Special Education. Dhatri has been working as a Literacy Instructor with The Learning Place since December 2012.  The Learning Place helps adults (with or without a learning disability) get ready for the job market or higher education. She also teaches English, Math and Computers. She has worked at the Learning Disabilities Association of Peel Region since September 2014 and is able to tutor any subject area in Grades Kindergarten to Grade Eight.

Kimone has graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts Double Honours Degree in English Literature and Sociology. Her next steps involve furthering her teaching pursuit by applying to the Consecutive Education program. Currently, Kimone is employed at the Oxford Learning Centre where she teaches students of the primary/junior ages. She also works at the Educatus Learning Centre where she coaches students of the junior/intermediate and intermediate/senior level with sentence/essay writing etc. Her versatility in teaching demonstrates her dedication to enhancing the learning development of all students. Kimone has also worked as a counsellor at the Kidz Konnect summer camp organized by the LDAPR, in which she was able to showcase her leadership and facilitation skills by organizing fun activities for the children and providing them with full support for academic growth.  She is able to tutor all subjects for students in grades K-8,  English for students of all ages (K-12), and Social Sciences for students in grades 9-12.

Amanda is a certified Teacher with the Peel District School Board and has a Bachelor of Education in History and Political Science as well as a Masters in Counseling Psychology, and is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Psychotherapists. She has a specialization in working with youth and communities at-risk and additional qualifications in Special Education and Guidance. Amanda has experience providing support to children and youth who are struggling with learning disabilities, mental health issues or a combination of both. Her sound knowledge of the cognitive, social and emotional development of children and youth are applied to the learning process. She is able to support any age of learner who is being challenged by English, Humanities, Social Science or work in the Applied Sciences using a variety of client-centred strategies.

Amrit graduated from the University of Toronto in April 2016 with a double major in Political Science and Criminology with a minor in English. Amrit is currently in the Teacher Education Program offered by Brock University. Through the program, Amrit has gained experience and knowledge in differentiating learning styles while working with children. During the program, she has taken a “Cognition and the Exceptional Learner” course which has helped her improve her strategies with a focus on Special Education and Learning Disabilities. In addition to this, she has two years of experience tutoring children in grades K-8 in all subjects and children in grades 8-12 in English.

Jill holds a Bachelor of Applied Science Honours Degree in Family and Child Studies.  She has an Advanced Studies Degree in Special Education and a TESOL certificate.  Since 2002, Jill has been working as a Teacher and Tutor through private schools, as well as within the school board.  She teaches English and math. She has taught students in Kindergarten through Grade Eight, as well as adult students.

Anjana is an experienced Ontario Certified Teacher with the Peel District School Board. She has a Bachelor of Education in English from U of T, as well as an Early Childhood Education from Sheridan College. She is qualified to teach all subjects from Kindergarten to Gr. 8, and English to Gr.10. She also has additional qualifications in Special Education (learning disabilities), Math, Reading, and Computers in the Classroom. Anjana has extensive experience providing support to children who are struggling with learning disabilities and has also provided support to her colleagues as a past instructional leader within the Board. She has a strong grasp of the curriculum, research-based teaching, and assessing techniques, and is effective in creating IEPs for students that enable them to be successful. As a contained classroom teacher, Anjana is trained in the Empower Reading Program (created by the Sick Kids’ Hospital), a reading remediation program based on comprehensive research studies that have led to creating strategies that yield the best long-term outcomes for struggling readers. In addition, Anjana is a strong proponent of infusing technology in an efficient and meaningful way to engage students in their learning and has dedicated herself to learning various assistive technologies and Google Apps for Education to this end. She is a Level 1 Google Certified Educator and working on obtaining Level 2 certification.

Joanne is a certified teacher with the Peel Board of Education and has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Business Administration. She has additional qualifications in Special Education, Learning Disabilities, and Autism. Joanne has experience providing support to children who are struggling in literacy and numeracy. She has learned several new strategies to help children succeed through training in Orton Gillingham (a multi-sensory approach for students struggling with reading and writing) and Singapore Math. She is able to tutor elementary school-aged children in all subject areas as well as older students experiencing challenges with literacy or numeracy.

Javaria is currently studying at the University of Toronto for her Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology and Sociology. She is currently employed at University of Toronto bookstore and also volunteers at a Community on Campus program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Javaria also has experience as a Research Assistant, a Teaching Assistant, Facilitating Study Groups, and as a Note Taker for students with disabilities and has previous experience volunteering as an Academic Tutor. Javaria is comfortable tutoring English at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and can tutor Math at the Elementary Level.

Rachna is an Ontario Certified Teacher and a certified Special Education Teacher. She has also completed her Masters in Special Education. Rachna has experience working with children with diverse learning abilities and challenges. Her passion is working with young children from Junior Kindergarten to Elementary Grades and is able to tutor in all subject areas at this level. Rachna has been previously employed at the Learning Disabilities Association of Peel Region as an Academic Support Tutor.

Manal Holds a Bachelor Degree in Economic Geography.  Manal has been working as a Math and Computer Instructor in learning community center (The Learning Place) since March 2013. The Learning place helps Adults with or without a Learning Disability to achieve their academic goals towards employment. Manal has experience creating individual education plans dependent on the needs of the student. She has also volunteered with the Peel Adult Education Center in Mississauga with the Math upgrading program. Manal also works with the CET “Center for Education and Training” for upgrading basic computer skills (Microsoft Word / Excel/ Powerpoint, etc.). Manal is able to teach all subjects at the elementary level. She is also able to teach Math at all levels (Elementary, Middle, and High School) and Math for College level, Pre-GED, and preparation for the college mature student test.

Bev holds a Bachelor of Science degree and has coaching training from the Certified Coaching Federation. She has provided learning support, curriculum development and mentoring to children, youth and adults for over ten years.  Bev’s work history includes workplace training and coaching for young adults, presenting of science workshops in elementary schools, and academic tutoring for children and youth (with and without learning disabilities) since 2001. Bev has also been a marker for several years for the Grade 10 Literacy test, which has enhanced her skills at helping students to master standardized testing.  She has enjoyed volunteering in elementary classrooms, early literacy programs, and as an in-school mentor with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Peel Region. Bev provides tutoring in Math, English literacy, and Science for elementary and middle school grades and Grade 9. She is also able to coach high school and college students who need assistance in developing their English literacy skills, workplace or applied math skills, or study/organizational skills in any subject.
