Academic Tutoring


Dhatri holds a Master’s of Science in Elementary and Special Education, a Bachelor Degree in Science of Instruction in Elementary Education, and also an Ontario Teaching Certificate for Primary and Junior Grades and Special Education. Dhatri has been working as a Literacy Instructor with The Learning Place since December 2012. The Learning Place helps adults (with or without learning disability) get ready for the job market or higher education. She also teaches English, Math and Computers. She has worked at the Learning Disabilities Association of Peel Region since September 2014 and is able to tutor any subject area in Grades Kindergarten to Grade Eight.

Kimone is currently enrolled in her final year at York University completing her undergraduate double honours degrees in English Literature and Sociology. Upon completing her degrees, she will further pursue her teaching career and enter the consecutive teacher’s program to work with students at the intermediate/senior level. Kimone has recently worked as a counsellor at the Kidz Konnect summer camp organized by the LDAPR, in which she was able to showcase her leadership and facilitation skills by organizing fun activities for the children and providing full support. In addition, she also currently works as an Early Learner Teacher and Grader at the Kumon Math and Reading Centre. She is able to tutor any level of English/Reading for students of all ages, and Junior/intermediate level Math for students of all ages.

Ryan is currently in Teacher’s College at Brock University as part of their Concurrent Education program. As a Concurrent student, he has been involved with many different programs offered on campus related to students of all ages and abilities. Ryan has had multiple experiences working in a classroom, from planning activities to supporting students. As a volunteer for Reading Rocks, Ryan worked one on one with students to improve their reading levels. He is able to tutor students and adults of all ages, specializing in Science and English for all levels, as well as elementary level Mathematics.

Amanda is a certified Teacher with the Peel District School Board and has a Bachelor of Education in History and Political Science as well as a Masters in Counseling Psychology, and is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Psychotherapists. She has a specialization in working with youth and communities at-risk and additional qualifications in Special Education and Guidance. Amanda has experience providing support to children and youth who are struggling with learning disabilities, mental health issues or a combination of both. Her sound knowledge of the cognitive, social and emotional development of children and youth are applied to the learning process. She is able to support any age of learner who is being challenged by English, Humanities, Social Science or work in the Applied Sciences using a variety of client-centered strategies.

Amrit graduated from the University of Toronto in April 2016 with a double major in Political Science and Criminology with a minor in English. Amrit is currently in the Teacher Education Program offered by Brock University. Through the program, Amrit has gained experience and knowledge in differentiating learning styles while working with children. During the program, she has taken a “Cognition and the Exceptional Learner” course which has helped her improve her strategies with a focus on Special Education and Learning Disabilities. In addition to this, she has two years of experience tutoring children in grades K-8 in all subjects and children in grades 8-12 in English.

Gursharandeep Kaur has a teaching experience of more than 13 years from India. She is trained to teach science to middle school and high school children. Her qualifications include Bachelor Degree in Science, Masters in Chemistry and Bachelor of Education. She has an ability to develop innovative teaching techniques and modify her methods of teaching depending upon student abilities and special needs. She has learned child psychology and updated her teaching strategies from time to time by getting training at Faculty Development Research Centre New Delhi India. She can teach science to students of grades 6 to12 and maths to students of grades 6 to 8.

Joanne is a certified teacher with the Peel Board of Education and has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Business Administration. She has additional qualifications in Special Education, Learning Disabilities and Autism. Joanne has experience providing support to children who are struggling in literacy and numeracy. She has learned several new strategies to help children succeed through training in Orton Gillingham (a multi-sensory approach for students struggling with reading and writing) and Singapore Math. She is able to tutor elementary school-aged children in all subject areas as well as older students experiencing challenges with literacy or numeracy.

Javaria is currently studying at the University of Toronto for her Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology and Sociology. She is currently employed at University of Toronto bookstore and also volunteers at a Community on Campus program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Javaria also has experience as a Research Assistant, a Teaching Assistant, Facilitating Study Groups, and as a Note Taker for students with disabilities and has previous experience volunteering as an Academic Tutor. Javaria is comfortable tutoring English at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and can tutor Math at the Elementary Level.

Rachna is an Ontario Certified Teacher and a certified Special Education Teacher. She has also completed her Masters in Special Education. Rachna has experience working with children with diverse learning abilities and challenges. Her passion is working with young children from Junior Kindergarten to Elementary Grades and is able to tutor in all subject areas at this level. Rachna has been previously employed at the Learning Disabilities Association of Peel Region as an Academic Support Tutor.

Agostinho is a current student at Ryerson University entering his 3rd year. He is majoring in English and working towards becoming a teacher in the future. He graduated from Parkdale Collegiate Institute with a 93 average in 2013. He has participated in various tutoring/mentorship programs both in high school and elementary school. Agostinho is able to tutor any grade or age range within his scope of knowledge. He is most comfortable tutoring English (reading, writing, grammar, etc) at any level of schooling. He is also comfortable with tutoring History, Social Studies/Social Sciences, Geography in Elementary and High School, Elementary Mathematics, and is able to work with adult learners.

Manal Holds a Bachelor Degree in Economic Geography. Manal has been working as a Math and Computer Instructor in learning community center (The Learning Place) since March 2013. The Learning place helps Adults with or without a Learning Disability to achieve their academic goals towards employment. Manal has experience creating individual education plans dependent on the needs of the student. She has also volunteered with the Peel Adult Education Center in Mississauga with the Math upgrading program. Manal also works with the CET “Center for Education and Training” for upgrading basic computer skills (Microsoft word /Excel/Power point, etc.). Manal is able to teach all subjects at the elementary level. She is also able to teach Math at all levels (Elementary, Middle, and High School) and Math for College level, Pre-GED and preparation for the college mature student test.

Mina has recently completed her Bachelor of Education in the Concurrent Teachers Education Program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto (OISE/ UT). She also has an additional qualification in Special Education. As an OCT teacher, she has a lot of experience with tutoring, teaching and volunteering that are related to children and education. Also, as a former volunteer for Kerry’s Place Autism Services, she has experience working with children of different physical and mental capabilities. She is able to tutor students and adults of all ages and is able to tutor elementary level Language Arts and Study/ Organization skills for any grade level, as well as Mathematics for all grades.

Bev holds a Bachelor of Science degree and has coaching training from the Certified Coaching Federation. She has provided learning support, curriculum development and mentoring to children, youth and adults for over ten years. Bev’s work history includes workplace training and coaching for young adults, presenting of science workshops in elementary schools, and academic tutoring for children and youth (with and without learning disabilities) since 2001. Bev has also been a marker for several years for the Grade 10 Literacy test, which has enhanced her skills at helping students to master standardized testing. She has enjoyed volunteering in elementary classrooms, early literacy programs, and as an in-school mentor with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Peel Region. Bev provides tutoring in Math, English literacy, and Science for elementary and middle school grades and Grade 9. She is also able to coach high school and college students who need assistance in developing their English literacy skills, workplace or applied math skills, or study/organizational skills in any subject.
