Volunteer Opportunities

We are always looking for dynamic and motivated Volunteers to help us deliver the best programs and services for our clients.

Volunteering with LDAPR:

 

The Learning Disabilities Association of Peel Region is a local not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Children, Youth, Adolescents, and Adults with Learning Disabilities and difficulties, as well as their families within the region of Peel. Facilitating from a satellite/hub model, most of LDAPR’s programs and services take place within various schools and public libraries in Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon.

 

LDAPR provides a variety of Programs and Services to meet the needs of those impacted by Learning Disabilities within the Region of Peel. Some of these Programs and Services include Group Programs aimed at teaching Social Skills, the S.T.A.T.A. (Stop, Talk, Ask. Team-Up, & Agree) approach to positive conflict resolution, Computer Skills, and Youth Empowerment Support (Y.E.S). LDAPR also offers one-on-one programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Assistive Technology and Academic Support/Tutoring.

 

In addition, LDAPR offers Parents, Guardians, Educators, Professionals and Adults with Learning Disabilities free services such as informative monthly workshops facilitated by professional guest speakers, and access to Resource Counselling by LDAPR’s Resource Counsellor. LDAPR also continually hosts various fundraising and community events, such as the Annual Golf Tournament to continue to raise awareness and spread the word about the organization.

 

In order to provide high quality Programs and Services to our clients, LDAPR also relies on the generous contributions and support of Volunteers.  LDAPR currently has various one-day and on-going volunteer opportunities available.

 

Here is a list of Volunteer Opportunities we are currently looking to fill:

 

  1. Bingo Volunteer
    1. Must be 18+
    2. Agency will provide training – 1 hour training on a Saturday morning
    3. Will represent our agency at a gambling centre (Bingo Hall) in Brampton for approximate 3 hours
    4. Must be physically able to walk and/or stand for 3 hours
    5. Details: Represent agency by attending our bingo sessions from 12:30 to 3:30. Clean garbage off table if necessary and handout promotional materials
    6. Intersection in Brampton is Rutherford and Steeles area

 

  1. March Break Camp Volunteer
    1. Must be 16+; High School students welcomed
    2. Must have a vulnerable sector police check
    3. Enthusiastic, Energetic and wants to work with children
    4. Computer literate
    5. Available to volunteer from March 12 to 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Brampton
    6. First Aid/CPR an asset

 

  1. Summer Camp Volunteer
    1. Must be 16+; High School students welcomed
    2. Must have a vulnerable sector police check
    3. Enthusiastic, Energetic and wants to work with children
    4. Ability to swim is an asset
    5. Able to volunteer whole days or half days
    6. Brampton and Mississauga locations available
    7. Minimum of a week commitment required
    8. First Aid/CPR an asset

 

  1. Office Volunteer
    1. Must be 18+
    2. Able to commit to weekly volunteer schedule (min. 1 day/week)
    3. Computer literate a must (knowledge of Microsoft word and Excel necessary)
    4. Able to answer phones and perform filing
    5. Able to keep Confidentiality is crucial

 

  1. Program Volunteers
    1. Must be 18+
    2. Able to commit to 1 ½ hour a week minimum
    3. We have programs available:
      1. Monday at 3 p.m. in Brampton and Mississauga
      2. Tuesday at 2:45 in Brampton
  • Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Brampton and Mississauga
  1. Tuesday at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. in Mississauga and Brampton
  2. Wednesday at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. in Mississauga and Brampton
  3. Thursday at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. in Mississauga and Brampton
  1. Enthusiastic, Energetic and wants to work with children
  2. Great for Post-secondary students in Social Work or Educational field
